This year, the BCS Department of Athletics has started a new tradition to recognizing the students-athletes of the Birmingham City School District. Each week the athletic department will acknowledge a defensive and offensive player of the week for football as well as volleyball. Our student-athletes are dedicated to their teams and represent their schools and our district by competing to earn their victories.
Their hard-work and dedication deserves to be recognized. The players are chosen based on information received from head coaches of each sport. They will be presented with a plaque from the BCS athletic department.
We proudly recognize:
Week 1 Volleyball Offensive Player: Kaitlan Shannon – Jr. Ramsay High School 75 assist 30 kills, and Defensive Player: Terica Chambers – Sr. Parker High School 87 digs.
Week 1 Football Offensive Player: AJ Toney – Sr. Jackson Olin High School – 186 all-purpose yards and 1 touchdown, and Defensive Player: Corrie Hutcherson – Sr. Carver High School – 10 solo tackles, 4 assist and 3 sacks
