BCS Scholars Selected to Play in 2019 All-Star Games and Named Player of the Year Finalist!

Five senior-athletes from the Birmingham City Schools District have been selected by the Basketball Coaches All-Star Selection Committee to play in the 29th Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game, Friday, March 15 at the Alabama State University Dunn-Oliver Acadome in Montgomery. The girls game will tip off at 5 p.m. and the boys will follow at 7 p.m.

Ramsay High School Lady Rams’ guard, Jaylyn Sherrod, and forward, Aniyah Smith, will be joined by Wenonah High School Lady Dragons’ forward/center, Thaniya Marks on the Alabama Girls’ All-Star Team!  5A Boys State Champion back court mates, Justin Minter and Cameron Tucker, will play with the Alabama Boys’ All-Star Team.

Keiara Griffin, Ramsay Lady Rams’ junior forward, was also selected as a North Team All-Star for the 2019 North-South All-Star Girls’ game on July 17th during All-Star Sports Week.

In addition to being named to the All-Star teams, Wenonah’s Cameron Tucker and Thaniya Marks have been named finalist for the Alabama Sports Writers Association 5A Player of the Year and Mr. and Miss Basketball!!
