Birmingham City Schools Has New, and Old, Faces in Basketball Coaches

On Tuesday, May 14th, the Birmingham City School Board of Education approved four new basketball coaches to lead our high schools in the 2019-2020 school year.

Birmingham City School alumnus, James Nabors and Trellice Moore, will lead their high school programs in 2019. Jackson-Olin alumnus, Coach Nabors, returns home to lead the boys’ team for the Mustangs, and Coach Moore, the first ever winner of the Emmanuel “Tubb” Bell Award, will serve as his predecessor for the Lady Dragons!

In addition to Coach Moore and Coach Nabors, the district welcomes one AHSAA State Champion coach, JoVanka Ward, to the district and welcomes back a three time AHSAA Champion, Ivan Lane. Coach Ward will takeover as the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach of the Ramsay High School Lady Rams, and Coach Lane will lead his third BCS program as the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach of Carver High School.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone out in support of all the BCS programs this year!
