This year, the Birmingham City Schools District will recognize the first BCS All-District Teams honoring those student-athletes that have represented their schools, and our district. The high school head coaches nominated, and selected each member of these teams based on their exemplary performance on the field and the court!
The coaches have selected Ashley Mason of Carver High School and Shauntae Lockett-Lewis of Ramsay High School as the volleyball co-coaches of the year, and Tim Vakakes of Jackson-Olin as the football coach of the year.
Ramsay High School quarterback, Jaih Andrews, was named offensive player of the year with almost 2,000 total yards and 20 total touchdowns. Clemson commit, LaVontay Bentley, linebacker Jackson-Olin, was the only unanimous first team football selection by the coaches and was named defensive player of the year.
Multi-player of the week winner Terica Chambers, Parker High School libero, was the other unanimous athlete voted by the coaches and is the volleyball player of the year with 91 aces, 23 assist, and more than 600 digs.
Congratulations to all the student-athletes of Birmingham City Schools and all the members of the inaugural BCS All-District Team! #BCSPride
